Introduction


Disability Empowerment Society Nepal [DESN] is a non-profitable and non-political social organization promoted by the people with disability for the welfare of the people with disability, helpless and single women. It was established in the year 2060 B.S (2004 A.D), under the registration act 1972 in active involvement of enthusiastic people with disability. It has been campaigning for equal rights and opportunities to all. It aims to have a society in which every individual lives peacefully together in right based, barrier free and an inclusive environment with improved socio-economic condition. DES- Nepal is affiliated with Social Welfare Council(SWC).


Legal Status of the organization


DES- Nepal was registered as an NGO at the district administration office of Lalitpur district in 22-02-2060 B.S. with the registration number 129/1560-059/60. It is affiliated with Social Welfare Council and National Federation of Disabled People Nepal [NFDN].


Vision


DES- Nepal wishes to see the equitable society for humanitarian existence and social respect in which every individual lives peacefully together in right based, barrier free and an inclusive environment with improved socio-economic condition.


Mission


DES- Nepal aims to create equitable, barrier free and an inclusive society for the people with disability, helpless and single women.


Objectives


  1. To educate and support the children with disability.
  2. To support the children of people with disability (PwDs).
  3. To create awareness to PwDs, helpless people and single women about their rights and responsibility.
  4. To build up self respect and self confidence of PwDs, helpless people and single women.
  5. To empower PwDs, helpless and single women and help socially, economically and academically.
  6. To create platform for PwDs, helpless people and single women to exchange their experiences and success.
  7. To campaign for equal rights and opportunities to all.
  8. To explore issues of disability from developmental perspective and CRPD friendly.
  9. To build up networks among the organizations working for PwDs, helpless and single women.
